Everquest II today opened the pre orders for the Everquest II Destiny of Velious expansion, through until Feb 22nd 2011, when the price of this expansion increases by approx $30, so if Everquest II is your thing, now is the time to buy.
The new expansion is set to go live and encompasses a large array of new features, including flying mounts which I know will be a favourite among gamers. Information currently available suggest these flying mounts will be useable all over Norrath, which will change the way the game is played, and substantially increase the rate of levelling for new characters.
Other features of the Destiny of Velious expansion include 2 new zones, 10 new dungeons (including one new massive contested dungeon), four new heritage quests and one new signature quest (as well as over 300 other quests for you lore junkies). It appears the level cap will remain at 90 at this stage. See all of the new features here.
For the raider there will also be four new raid zones to contend with and defeat. Along with these new zones and dungeons comes over 100 new armor sets to be equiped as well as thousands of new weapons and miscellaneous items.
Pre-orders have the usual perks, with the collectors edition going for $USD59.99 with inclusions such as pets, house items, appearance armor, and to celebrate the flying mounts - an alternate griffon appearance. The standard digital version have a limited number of similar perks (a pet and some house items), and comes in at $USD39.99. The purchase of the retail version will get you a glowing hammer cloak and paintings for your house (cheer anyone?). Check out the pre-orders page here.
The inclusion of Destiny of Velious brings the total expansions on top of the Everquest II original game to 7, plus the 3 already released adventure packs makes Everquest II a massive world to be explored.
If the Velious expansion from the original Everquest is anything to go by, there will be some ice, some giants, dragons and dwarves, and with luck some sirens. Stab them and take their loot and you will be set for some fun.
